Checking locations on a BC Level 2 MTB Leadership Training course
High above Talybont on Usk Reservoir, deep in the Brecon Beaons National Park, South Wales the candiates are checking their locations on a Ordnance Survey map.
The candidates are half way through their British Cycling Level 2 Mountain Bike Leadership assessment. The skill of relocating or finidng yourelf on a map is an essential skill for all Mountain Bike Leaders. During our training and assessment courses run by WyeMTB, this skill is learnt by the candidates on their 2 day tranining course and then assessed during their 1 day assessment. The assessment day normally happens a minimum six weeks after the trainining course.
All our British Cycling Leadership course dates can be found on our website.
It is National map reading week, we have attached a great video which guides you through the basics of map reading skills and is a great visual and informative video. Enjoy

Here at WyeMTB we are very happy to have become on of British Cyclings delivery centres for their Mountain Bike Leadership Courses. Currently WyeMTB are able to train and assess candidates who want to access the Level 2 award.
All the British Cycling Level 2 courses are based in the Brecon Beacons. The training courses happen at Gilwern outdoor centre, this centre allows us straight access to the Black Mountain and some World Class trails. The make use of the Talybont outdoor centre for our assessments, again perfectly placed to allow us to ride straight from the door and ride some of the best Mountain Routes in the whole of South Wales.
We are keen bikers and love being outdoors, as a resutl finding time in the office to write blogs is something which we are going to work on.
